Dear H.I.S. parents & students,
Thank you for choosing H.I.S. and welcome to our first academic year 2016-2017. The school staff and management are eager to start this academic year. We wish we would be to your expectations. We look forward to engaging you as you take a step towards becoming meaningful contributors in the building of our school's educational environment. You are going to use this guide in your hands as a source for understanding the school rules and regulations to help your son or daughter have a successful and enjoyable school year. This guide will also teach your kids about their rights and duties in their school society.
We promise you a safe and conductive school environment that helps our kids to be competitive in our society.
We expect our students to respect the rights of all people involved in the educational process as we promise to give them all their rights as students in our school.

Parents Involvement and Communication:
1. As we believe in H.I.S. that the educational process is forming a triangle. Its three sides are the school, the students, and most importantly the parents. That's why we would like for you to be totally involved in this process as follows:
· There will be a meeting for each level through which parents are going to elect representative that will be in a direct contact with the school board to solve any problems or to enhance and flourish what is done already.
· There will be three parents teachers conference; their dates are mentioned in the school calendar.
· The office hours for all heads and seniors are as follows:
i) School principal ( - Sunday from 10:00 to 12:00)
(- Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00)
ii)School vice principal and English coordinator ( - Monday from 10:00 to 12:00)
iii) KG & Grade One Supervisor ( - Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00) (- Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00)
iv) Math elementary Coordinator ( -Monday from 12:15 to 1:10)
v) Math middle and high school coordinator ( - Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:55)
vi) Science Coordinator ( - Tuesday from 12:15 to 1:10)
vii) Arabic & SSE Coordinator ( - Thursday from 9:45 to 10:55)

Following up with your kid's performance:
i) You will be receiving 2 types of reports per year as follow s:
· By the end of the 1st and 3rd quarters you will receive progress reports to provide specific information about student progress in each subject.
· By the end of the 2nd and 4th quarter you will receive a grading report with cumulative data on your child's performance.
ii) In case you feel that you need to know about your kid's performance you may ask the school any time for an upon- request report.
School Uniform Policy:
· The school uniform is obligatory and students should wear it daily.
· The P.E. uniform could be worn only on scheduled P.E. classes.
· For the shoes worn to school, students could wear whether a black or dark blue shoes. (No sandals, slippers, flip flops, high heels, or shoes with wheels are accepted.)
· Jewelry and accessories are not permitted (except for one pair of earrings for girls)
· If the student - for girls only – is veiled, her veil color should be whether white or baby blue.
· For boys swimming suit, they have to wear shorts and not Speedos.
· For girls swimming suit, they have to wear a scuba diving suits (shorts and short sleeves)
· Socks' colors are only white or baby blue.
· For girls their hair should be gathered and buckled up all the time with a convenient buckle color.
· For boys, their hair should be short and the style should be suitable for a school.
· No hats or ice caps are allowed in class.
· Nail polish and make-up are not allowed.
· Nails must be short and clean.
Books and supplies:
· The parents will receive a list of supplies and stationeries needed through the year, please label them all and send them back to school to be kept in the students' lockers.
· It is preferable to bring all your kid’s supplies so that he/she would be able to share in class and not to miss any thing
· The parent will also receive the books from school according to a schedule that will be launched on the school page you will receive the books and sign for the rental ones.
Students' attendance:
· The student should attend all school days except in case of an emergency.
· In case of an emergency, the parent should contact the school office (by phone) about the absence of the student and the reason to be considered an emergency. There should also be a written note sent with the student when he or she is back to school.
· In case of sickness there should be a medical report so that the school physician could follow up with the case.
· The student has the right to a maximum of 10 intermitted days and 10 consecutive days of absence in case of travelling or sickness.
· The school has the right to terminate the student in case of exceeding the allowed number of days of absence.
· The student has to attend the school before 7:30 am.
· If the student is tardy, then a parent or guardian has to accompany the student to the reception to report tardiness.
i. The second time the student will not be allowed to the first period.
ii. The third time he or she will not be allowed to the first three periods
iii. The fourth time he will not attend classes that day and will be considered absent.
Early dismissal:
· If it is necessary for a student to be dismissed from school before the end of the school day, then the parent must notify the school office before 12:00 pm and has to assign a specific time so the kid will be ready on time.
Dropping and picking policy:
· Parents will drop their kids by Gate 1 maximum at 7:45
· In case of tardiness, gate 2 will receive students at 8:00 (not before 8:00).
· No kid will enter the school without his ID card.
· No kid will leave the school except with his parent that has the ID card.
PS. If you lose your card or your kid’s card or damage any of them you will pay for the new copy.
· Picking your kid will be also through gate 1 starting from 2:30 till 3:00.
· You will be receiving your kid in maximum of 20 minutes.
· After 3:00 their will not be direct supervision so please pick your kids before 3:00
· In case of being late for any emergency please inform the school by phone –not through any other channel -so that we could arrange supervision.
School Bus Rules:
1. Obey the driver or adult
2. Enter and exit the bus safely
3. Stay seated; no standing
4. Keep his hands, feet and other body parts to himself
5. not to throw anything
6. Put nothing out of the window
7. Remain quiet and do not disturb the driver or others
8. No profanity, rudeness, vandalism, fighting, threats
9. Do not eat drink or chew gum
10. Be responsible, be safe
PROHIBITED ITEMS:
• Cell phones, Cameras, CD players, MP4, MP3, Game Boys, PS, … etc.
• Laptops and any other electronic device
• Cosmetics/make up or any other unnecessary items
• Skate boards, roller blades, hard balls, and other items, which are potentially dangerous
• Playing cards
• Jewelry
• Sports equipment from home
• Toys
• Permanent markers.
• All such items will be confiscated and held until the parent comes in to pick it up for the first time, the second time it will be confiscated until the end of the quarter, and the third it will be confiscated till the end of the year. School staff and administration assume no responsibility for the loss or damage of unwanted items.
• UNACCEPTABLE STUDENT BEHAVIORS AND DUE PROCESS :
• Fighting
• Water fight
• Bringing cell phone
• Tardiness
• Skipping class
• Class disturbance
• Disrespect towards an authority
• Bullying & cyber bullying
• Academic dishonesty
• Bus distraction
• Stealing
• Student protest
• Gambling and/or playing cards
• Physical harassment
• Bringing any kind of weapon
• Smoking
• Sexual harassment.
• Vandalizing.
• These rules will be implemented from the beginning till the end of the year, unless any news or updates are to occur.
DISCIPLINE POINT SYSTEM:
ü Each student will be added in a subject called “Discipline Point”.
ü Each student will be graded on “Discipline Point” like they are on other subjects.
ü Students will begin the year with 100 points.
ü According to the consequence points below, their discipline grades will be dropped.
ü If a student has no disciplinary referrals/action for 15 school days, the student’s discipline point will be increased five (5) points by the discipline advisor.
ü Students who have 70 or lower points will not be able to join any trips except educational ones approved by admin.
ü If a student has 50 or lower will be put on probation.
ü Subject teachers of the student may give (1) positive point per week.
ü Discipline record will be send monthly to the parent.
In case of violating any of the school regulations the student will be facing the following consequences

ü Lunch Detention (loosing 5 marks)
ü After School Detention (loosing 10 marks)
ü Saturday Detention (loosing 20 marks)
ü In school suspension (loosing 25 marks)
ü Suspension from school (loosing 30 marks per day)
